PUMPNESS NO MORE
As of this second RIGHT NOW! It has been 28 hours and 46 minutes that I have been without the pump! THANK GOODNESS. After 10 years I was starting to feel like a robot! Fuel in Fuel out! So it feels nice to be disconnected from my box. Blood sugar checking =20 a day. Shots = 10 a day. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Fears, Fears, More Fears, and a New Endo?!
I am heart broken! I have the best endo in the WORLD. Yes you heard me in the WORLD! She is so amazing! She has been there for me in ways that most doctors wouldn't even think about. Tuesday...two days..yes ONLY TWO DAYS! Will be my last appt. with her and I am SO SAD. In addition to being SO SAD I am also SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SCAREDDDDDDDD! What happens if I never find another endo i like? Perhaps i'll be forever shopping for one! DO I NEED TO TELL YOU HOW HARD IT IS TO ACTUALLY FIND A DOCTOR YOU LIKE? LET ALONE ONE THAT YOU PUT YOUR LIFE IN THE HANDS OF FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! ugh. How will I ever survive this?? I should call my insurance company and yell/cry thier ears off! My doctor herself is sad and doesn't want this! UGH! I have no solutions to this problem yet...only question/concerns! I havn't even LOOKED for a new doctor! I am in denial. BIG TIME.

Happy Early Mother's Day
HOW GOD SELECTS THE MOTHER OF A CHILD WITH DIABETESby Erma BombeckMost women become mothers by accident, some by choice, a few by social pressures and a couple by habit. Did you ever wonder how mothers of children with diabetes are chosen? Somehow I visualize God hovering over earth selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to make notes in a giant ledger.
"Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint Matthew."
"Forrest, Marjorie, daughter, Patron Saint Cecilia."
"Rutledge, Carrie, twins. Patron Saint Gerard. He's used to profanity."
Finally, He passes a name to an angel and smiles, "Give her a child with diabetes." The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."
"Exactly", smiles God. "Could I give child with diabetes to a mother who does not know laughter? That would be cruel".
"But has she the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she will drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that feeling of self and independence that is so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I am going to give her has her own world. She has to make it live in her world and that's not going to be easy."
"But, Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."
God smiles. "No matter. I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just enough selfishness."
The angel gasps. "Selfishness? Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she cannot separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with less than perfect."
"She does not realize it yet, but she is to be envied. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see .... ignorance, cruelty, prejudice ... and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as if she is here by my side."
"And what about her patron saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in mid air. God smiles. "A mirror will suffice."

Brave Faces
I went to see the little boy I told you about again today. He is doing great! He has received Rufus the Diabetic Bear and loved the book that came with him. He is very stubborn about his shots...he wants only the arms lol which I don't blame him for! He is ready to come home tho. His parents said that he hasn't cried over his past four shots! Which is amazing!!! I told him to find his brave face...he definitely found it! All in all he is doing great!
He is only 4
Well...
A little boy in my class got diagnosed with Diabetes on Friday. He is only 4-years-old. As soon as I found out I just beat myself up! I should have noticed the changes! He was not eating at lunch. He would just sit there with this...miserable look on his face. He was ALWAYS going pee. Always. He had a drastic change in personality. Yet I didn't put two and two together. I still have not been able to wrap my mind around this whole thing.
I know whats in store for him...and I want more then anything to take all of it away. I want to believe that He is just sick. That it is the flu or something. However, I know it is not.
Please pray for him. He is at the beginning of a long and troubling journey.

Good Deeds....Good Feelings...and $20 of giftcards!!
So I admit..this has NOTHING do to with diabetes!
but....
Today I go to Pei Wei at 8:45...find out they close at 9:00...so i say...."O Ok...well we will come back another time...since you are getting ready to close..." The manger follows me out and says "Thank-you! It's been a day from you know where..." Then she gives me two $10 gift cards!!!
I must say all this...is to be credited to Heather...it was her idea! But good deeds do not go unseen!

What does my sun tan have to do with diabetes?????
So funny story...
Saturday I worked outside in the Texas heat for...count them...13 hours! What do I notice today? A white non-tanned bracelet mark on my nicely tanned left arm...great all I need now is to get the actual medical alert symbol tanned on me too!
